DENTAL DIAGNOSTICS AND RADIOLOGY

Diagnostic activities are necessary to assess the state of health of the oral cavity, to notice possible problems and to determine the most appropriate ways of treatment.

In particular, it is possible that after the first visit to the dentist, tailored to the needs of each patient, it will be necessary to conduct specific in-depth examinations in order to study individual problems more precisely. For these studies, we use the diagnostic imaging service and its dedicated technologies. Every dental office has advanced equipment that can achieve an optimal final result with the lowest possible dose of radiation.

Orthopantomography: an overview of dentistry
By "orthopantomography" we mean an X-ray of the teeth, that is, a panoramic X-ray of the dental arches, thanks to which it is possible to get an image of teeth and arches, jaws and bone. Some of the problems that affect teeth may actually depend on the lack of harmonious relationship they have with structures that are part of the mouth, such as the gums or bones that form the temporomandibular joint, which allows the mouth to open and close. .
Orthopantomography of dental arches is a painless and non-invasive examination, which allows detection of images thanks to the use of low-emission X-rays.
It is usually performed to highlight any caries that cannot be visually detected, but also malformations such as impacted teeth and granulomas, to identify bone lesions, inflammations, cysts or tumors of the alveoli or in the jaw and other pathologies that can affect teeth and gums.

The dentist requires conducting dental orthopantomography (or OPT examination) to get a picture of the health of the oral cavity and its components, and thus be able to choose the most appropriate therapies and treatments.
